Marissa Anderson · Six Nations of the Grand River · Mohawk Nation, Turtle Clan

An emerging designer, mother and entrepreneur who balances family life with growing two small businesses rooted in creativity, culture and community. Marissa learned to sew young, guided by her mother, who introduced her to making traditional clothing, and became largely self-taught through practice and experimentation. Her one-of-a-kind pieces blend modern fashion with traditional elements, often with ribbon work, celebrating identity and carrying tradition forward. Her greatest reward is seeing her designs worn and celebrated by community members, from smoke dance dresses to longhouse outfits and ribbon shirts.
